Dr. Ignacio M. Hernández-Agramonte

Senior Specialist in Macroecology

I am interested in the study of organisms' interactions at different scales and how these interactions could affect and/or be affected by human activities. During my PhD studies in Argentina, I focused on the plant-fungi-herbivore interactions in semi-natural and agro-ecosystems. I was especially interested in how the defensive symbiosis in an agronomic grass species impacts the biomass and secondary production. My current research in the Macroecology workgroup aims to disentangle how landscape structure affects the provisioning of ecosystem services in the recently restored alvar grasslands, paying special attention to the importance of the relationship between the present services and legacy effects as a result of historical changes in human activities.
